Our Directorates

1. Registration, Licensing and Graduate Engineers Internship Directorate:

The Registration, Licensing and Graduate Engineers Internship function is established under section 7 of the Engineers Act No. 43 of 2011 and serves as the repository for information regarding engineering registration and qualifications, where it;

The function is aided through various capacity building avenues;

The Pre-Submission Conference, conducted quarterly throughout the calendar year, serves as a vital resource for Graduate Engineers with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience who aspire to register as Professional Engineers. This conference is designed to provide comprehensive guidance to participants on the prerequisites for registration as Professional Engineers. Key aspects covered include instructions on report preparation formats and other essential elements of the Professional Examination process. Attendance at the Pre-Submission Conference is obligatory for Graduate Engineers pursuing registration as Professional Engineers with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

The Graduate Engineers Program (GEIP) is a structured internship initiative for graduate engineers that allows participants to gain practical training and experience for their professional careers.

Under the program, the graduate engineer undergoes professional training under close supervision by senior registered professional engineers and follow the training guidelines specific to one’s engineering discipline.

Since its inception, The Graduate Engineers Internship Programme (GEIP) has remained instrumental in equipping graduate engineers with the skills and experience needed to transition into professional engineers. As of January 2025, the program is overseeing three active cohorts with 238 interns placed in ministries, government departments, county governments, and private-sector organizations for hands-on training. Since its launch, GEIP has engaged 338 graduate engineers.

2. Directorate of Capacity Building & Accreditation (DCBA)

The Directorate of Capacity Building and Accreditation (DCBA) draws its mandate from section 7 of the Engineers Act 2011 which requires the Board to develop the capacity of the engineering profession and provide accreditation for engineering education, training and practice;
