EBK at the Inaugural AJERI Conference 2025

The Board participated as a key partner at the African Journal of Engineering Research and Innovation (AJERI) Scientific Conference 24th – 25th July 2025.

EBK Chairman, Eng. Erastus Mwongera, and CEO/Registrar, Eng. Margaret Ogai, addressed the Inaugural African Journal of Engineering Research and Innovation (AJERI) Conference, highlighting the critical role of research, innovation, and capacity building in strengthening Kenya’s engineering sector.

“The quality and relevance of our engineering practice hinges on the strength of our human capital and the effectiveness of our institutional linkages,” stated Eng. Mwongera. He challenged engineers, academics, regulators, and students to take full advantage of platforms like AJERI, encouraging bold thinking, analytical rigor, and actionable outcomes.

During the session, EBK Registrar/CEO Eng. Margaret Ogai briefed the delegation on the Board’s regulatory mandate and recent achievements. She highlighted the Board’s latest milestone—global recognition of Kenya’s engineering programmes, accredited under EBK, following Kenya’s admission as a provisional signatory to the Washington Accord.

The event marked a significant step toward integrating academic research with engineering practice to fuel sustainable development and innovation across the continent.

At the closing ceremony of the African Journal of Engineering Research & Innovation (AJERI) Conference 2025, Prof. Caroline Lang’at Thoruwa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Outreach at Kenyatta University—representing Vice Chancellor Prof. Paul Wainaina—led a university delegation in engaging with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).  This recognition marks a significant step forward in aligning Kenya’s engineering education with international standards, enabling greater mobility and global opportunities for Kenyan engineers.
