MUTUAL RECOGNITION AGREEMENT (MRA) FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES

The Engineers Board of Kenya, the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania and the Engineers Registration Board of Uganda signed an MRA under the auspices of the East African Community (EAC), on 7th December, 2012 at a ceremony held in Arusha. The signing was witnessed by the Secretary General through his representative and the chairmen of the engineering professional associations of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The MRA was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the East African Common Market Protocal which became effective on 1st July, 2010.

The MRA will enable professional Engineers within the EAC countries to move freely accross the common borders without any impediments. This is expected to facilitate economic integration and increase greater consumer choice of engineering services within the region.
